TWO INTERESTING SIDELIGHTS.

OPERA COMPANY’S TROUBLES,

(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) New York, March 23. Two interesting aspects of the depression were disclosed to-day. A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Opera Company, the most noted American musical body, announced that the company’s capital was wiped out by losses this season which was the worst attended in the history of the organization, and the future was seriously in question. It is likely that Mr J. D. Rockefeller, senior and junior, may have to come to its aid. To-night Mr J. P. Morgan made the first radio address and one of the few speeches of his career, appealing for funds for unemployment relief.
