WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

ANNUAL MEETING AT OHAI. (From Our Correspondent.) At the first annual meeting of the Ohai Women’s Institute on Tuesday, March 15, Mrs Reid presided over 30 members and friends. Correspondence was received from Mr R. N. Murray, secretary of the local R.S.A., and it was moved and seconded that the institute undertake the sale' of poppies for the R.S.A. It was decided to forward the following resolutions to the annual conference which is being held in Wellington in July: (1) That to save expense all federations be urged to send the nearest voluntary organizer to a centre requiring a formation meeting; (2) that we are of the opinion, seeing institutes now number over 300, that the time has arrived for the formation of a Dominion Federation. It was agreed to by those present that the Women’s Institute provide a memorial wreath on Anzac Day in memory of the fallen soldiers. Mrs Reid, before vacating the chair, thanked the members for their regular attendance and hoped things would go on as pleasantly and happily as in the past. She wished especially to thank the secretary, who in reply stated that/ the work could not have progressed so smoothly had it not been for the co-operation she had at all times received from those present. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs R. Reid; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames G. Wilson and J. W. Martin; treasurer, Miss Davies; secretary, Mrs Ramsay; committee, Mesdames Bird and Thompson, Misses M. Wilson and Ramsay. Mrs Reid tvas the recipient of a floral bouquet. Mrs Martin, on making the presentation, congratulated her on her past work. The roll call, “things I most dislike doing,” was very well responded to.
