BRADFORD BUSY
LARGE VOLUME OF ORDERS. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) London, March 21. The Bradford correspondent of the Morning Post says the wool industry is busily engaged with a large volume of orders for semi-manufactures and cloth, but is showing reluctance to undertake further extensive commitments. One of the main reasons why new business is not replacing existing contracts is uncertainty about what import duties will follow the existing 50 per cent, ad valorem rates, which will expire in May. There is widespread hope that the Tariff Commission will announce its decision early in order to establish confidence in the future.
