CRICKET. (From Our Correspondent.) A meeting of the committee of the Wyndham Cricket Club was held on Friday evening, Mr G. J. C. Smart (president) presiding over a full attendance of members. The chairman explained that the business of the meeting was to discuss having a suitable finale to a most successful season, and also with the object of raising funds. Unfortunately the club had broken the Golf Club’s mower, and funds would be required to repair the machine. He thought a concert and dance would be profitable. On the motion of Messrs Traynor and Milne it was resolved that the club hold a concert and dance early in April. The following committee was appointed to carry the function through:—Messrs Smart, Traynor, Robertson and H. Heath. The question of arranging a match with Marist seniors (Invercargill) during Easter was left in the hands of Mr Traynor. Scottish Society. The monthly meeting of the Wyndham St. Andrew’s Scottish Society was held in the Masonic Hall on Friday evening, there being-a good attendance of members and associates present. At the commencement of proceedings Chief Halliday, Chieftains J. Henderson and J. C. Ronald, together with Mr W. Woods, of Invercargill, and Chief Gordon of the Gore Society, were played in from the door to the platform by Piper McDonald. The following concert items were contributed : Mr D. N. A. Macpherson (song) ; Mrs Ramage (song) ; Master S. Ross (song) ; Messrs W. Woods and McFarlane (recitations); Mr J. C. Ronald (song). The Chief then introduced Mr Woods to the audience, and expressed pleasure at having him with them that night. The Rev. Hugh Graham, of Mosgiel, was to have given an address that evening, but owing to indisposition was unable to come, and Mr Woods had kindly consented to fill the breach.

Mr Woods, who was greeted with applause on rising, gave an excellent address on the Celtic race, his remarks being listened to attentively. Chieftain J. Henderson moved a vote of thanks to the lecturer and the performers.
