WAR PENSIONS
COMMISSION’S RECOMMENDATIONS. PLEA TO DELAY ACTION. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, March 21. Jellicoe Hall was filled to the doors tonight. when in response to the invitation of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association Expeditionary Force, ex-service men, soldiers’ widows and widowed mothers, assembled to discuss the recommendations of the National Expenditure Commission relating to war pensions. A motion was carried urging the Government, despite the present economic crisis, to ignore this section of the report and further urging the Government to take no action in regard to pensions until after hearing the evidence of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association.
