COUSIN BETTY’S LETTER.
—Quotation for To-day—- “ The more we love, the better we are; and the greater our friendships are, the dearer we are to God.” —Jeremy Taylor. (Sent in by Cousin Jean Nichol.)
MY DEAREST ONES, To-day is our party day—and no time to be spent gossiping! I hope all your friends, as well as yourselves, are coming to the party, and that it’s going to be the jolliest four hours we’ve ever spent. By the way, bring your pennies to enter catchy guessing competitions—nothing will be over one penny 1 That reminds me, too. I am printing the. words of “The Grand Old Duke of York,” which I understand from the games committee is to be one of the “mixing” games. So cut this verse out and learn it. The grand old Duke of 7 ork, He had ten thousand men, He marched them up to the top of the room, And he marched them down again. And when they’re up, they’re up, And when they're down, they’re down, And when they’re only half-way up, They’re neither up nor down. A number of Cousins have asked me if they have to bring anything to entail Little Southlanders are expected to provide something towards the feast. Look in the front of the paper for any other particulars you want to know. And please don’t forget that the shopping bag making competition closes on Tuesday next. My love to you all in sheaves and bushel loads. Y’our own
