TONIC FOR DECLINING BUSINESS. In a letter to the News Chronicle, Lord Luke, chairman of Bovril Ltd., stated: “I am a firm believer in the value of advertising. The vast sales of our c° m "" modify were built up by well-considered advertising, backed by the solid merits, of the product itself, and they are maintained in the same way. “Great newspapers enable manufacturers, to reach millions of consumers at a cost per head which is remarkably low. When times are good, advertising enables traders to take the fullest advantage of them. “When they are bad, advertising helps to ‘prevent that sinking feeling,’ and traders may be strongly recommended to consider its merits as a reliable tonic for declining business.”
