EDENDALE TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Edendale Town Board was held on Tuesday evening the chairman, Mr William Irvine, presiding over the following: Commissioners R. A. Marshall, T. Hickey, and C. Milne. Commissioner Marshall asked if there were any restrictions or by-law dealing with the driving of stock through the streets. The reason he asked was that several times of late cattle were driven through the town in the morning while children were on their way to school. It was dangerous to children who would run into trouble instead of getting out of the The chairman said he did not think there was anything in the by-laws to cover the matter, and on the by-laws being referred to this was found to be the case. Commissioner Milne asked when the contract for the gravel ran out, and was advised by the clerk that the term expired last November, to which Commissioner Milne replied that they should call for fresh tenders. It was decided to call fresh tenders for rubbish removal and gravel supply on the same conditions as previously. 'The chairman said that there was a quantity of gravel tipped on the side of the road for the convenience of the surfaceman, and he thought that the present contractor should be paid for that gravel in the case of his being unsuccessful in the fresh tendering. The chairman said that the Ten Acre road was in fairly bad repair and wanted attending to. He thought the county should contribute something towards the cost of the gravel. It was decided that the clerk communicate with the county and see what could be done. It was decided that the chairman attend to the matter of having the lights erected at the Foresters’ Hall and Battersby’s corner.
