ANGLING
THE GORE SOCIETY. ANNUAL PICNIC. The Gore District Angling Society held its annual picnic at the Otamata Gorge during the week-end, the function attracting a large gathering of members, honorary members and ladies. The weather was delightfully fine and a very pleasant day was spent by the picnickers. A short sports programme was held, the results being as follows: — Girls' race, 6 and under: D. Hoffman 1, D. Sexton 2, F. Hoffman 3. Boys, under 6: J. Hoffman 1, L. Hoffman 2, R. Stanton-3. Girls, 6—10: M. Hoffman 1, B. Melrose 2 ' Girls, 10—14: G. Ferguson 1, K. Henderson 2, L .Schultz 3. Boys, 10—14: L. Clutterbuck 1, J. Ferguson 2, S. Gerken 3. Young ladies’ race: Miss G. Ferguson 1, Miss W. Cooney 2, Miss L. Schultz 3. Young men’s race: J. Cooney 1, 8. Gerken 2, K. Martin 3. Married ladies: Mrs Cooney 1, Mrs F. Hoffman 2, Mrs J. Hoffman 3. Married men: L. Craig 1, J. Hoffman 2, F. Hoffman 3. Girls’ three-legged race: M. Hoffman and B. Melrose 1; K. Henderson and G. Ferguson 2. . Boys’ three-legged race: Martin and Gerken 1, Cooney and Ferguson 2, Alhson and Clutterbuck 3. Double-harness race: K. Henderson and J. Ferguson 1; Mr and Mrs J. Hoffman 2, K.
