Household Hints
Bread crumbs or stale bread kept in a glass fruit jar with several thicknesses of cheesecloth over the top, held in place by a rubber band, will keep indefinitely and will never become musty as they will do if kept in anything with a tight cover. To open a fruit jar of the Mason type, either use a sheet 'of sandpaper in the hand, which will give one a firm hold of the cover, or else hold the metal cover under hot water for a minute or two, after which it will turn easily. ,
