OBITUARY

MR JOSEPH 11. MACINDOE. The death occurred on Monday morning of Mr Joseph 11. Macindoe, Hcriot street, Lindisfarne. The late Mr Macindoe was the youngest of the family of the late George D. Macindoe, Ness street, wellknown as the city analyst and a versatile writer in the Press and able lecturer on the subject of agricultural manures. Mr J. Macindoe, who at the time of his death had just reached the age of 35 years, was a native of Paeroa, Auckland. He was educated at the Invercargill South and Boys’ High Schools, and on leaving was indentured to the firm of Joseph Johnstone and Sons as a mechanical engineer, in which profession he was recognized as an expert. He was for several years mechanical engineer in the Tramways Department of this city. Mr Macindoe was a highly esteemed elder and Sunday School teacher in First Church in which body he took the chief outside interest of his life. He leaves a widow and one child, an aged mother, and married sister. The late Mr Macindoe had to his credit an excellent record of service with the Tramways Department where he proved a most capable and jtopular official. Reference to his death was made at last evening's meeting of the City Council by his Worship the Mayor (Mr John Miller) who said it was very regrettable that Mr Macindoe should have been cut off at so early an age. >
