RECIPROCAL TRADE

THE CANADIAN AGREEMENT. RELEASE NOT YET PERMITTED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington March 8. Numerous inquiries are being made as to when the Canadian trade agreement is likely to come before the House and the Hon. W. Downie Stewart states: “So far as New Zealand is concerned, I have been ready to submit the agreement to Parliament ever since Parliament opened. Some delay has occurred at the Canadian end. I have cabled the Hon. Stevens several times, stating we are ready to complete the matter. I gather from his last reply that he had difficulty in getting it submitted for approval by the Canadian Cabinet owing to pressing political problems taking precedence. He promised to cable in a few days and I am awaiting his reply.”
