WELLINGTON TITLES. (Per United I’ress Association.) Wellington. January 18. Two provincial swimming championship events were decided on Saturday. The 100 Yards resulted: J. C. Blakley 1, B. Gallette 2, E. H. Gill 3. Time, 61sec. 220 Yards Breaststroke: K. Spry 1, A, Hepburn 2, H. Tremewan 3. Time, 3min 24sec. Owing to influenza 0. Claridge, the previous title-holder, was unable to compete in the 100 yards. Spry retained his title. “BOY” CHARLTON’S FORM. (United Press Assn.— By Telegraph—Copyright.) Sydney, January 18. Following “Boy” Charlton’s record-break-ing swim on Saturday his trainer, Harry Hay, said: "I think he will beat any swimmer in the world.” NEW WOMEN’S RECORD. (Rec. 7.5 p.m.) Now York, January 17. Miss Eleanor Holm set a new world’s record for 150 yards backstroke, covering the distance in 2min 33 2-ssec.
