NAVAL LIMITATION
BRITISH EMPIRE
FURTHER REDUCTION MOOTED SOME APPREHENSION FELT (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, January IS. The naval correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that the Dominion High Commissioners met members of the Ministry at the Foreign Office and, it is understood, discussed the formulation of a united Empire policy for the Disarmament Conference at Geneva.
The correspondent says naval men do not disguise a fear that the Government, through over optimistic estimates of Britain’s present sea strength, might be tempted to make a further disarmament gesture, and suggests that the restriction of the whole Empire treated as a single naval unit to 50 cruisers all told under the London Treaty should be an ever present warning against such a step.
