THE WEEK’S TRANSACTIONS. The firm tone noted last week in Government securities has been fairly well maintained throughout the current week. The 54 per cent, issues have been the chief lines sought after and business has been transacted at £99 15/- to £lOO 5/for bonds and stock with currency to 1937. The tax free bonds have firmed a little compared with the best price they brought last week, sales being reported at £96 10/to £96 15/-. The business done in banking shares has been more evenly distributed during the period under review than was the case last week. Bank of New Zealands, Commercials, Nationals of New Zealand, Australasias, and Unions all being the means of business. Bank of New Zealands are a shade easier in price than they were a week ago, and sales were effected at 45/3 to 46/-. Latest quotations are buyer 45/0, sellers 46/0. Commercials remain fairly steady although there is a slight easing tendency. Last week they brought up to 16/8. Sales this week were made at 16/6 and 16/5 with further sellers at 16/6, buyers 16/-.
