• TENNIS MATCHES. (From Our Correspondent.) Riverton A grade players met the local team on the home courts on Saturday last. Ideal tennis weather prevailed, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The Riverton players proved victors by 9 sets to 6, one set not being played owing to the lateness of the hour. The scores were as follows, home players being mentioned first: Ladies’ Singles— Miss Wescombe 6 v. Miss Bailey 3; Mrs Laurie 4 v. Miss Galloway 6; Mrs Stoneman 6 v. Miss Hunter 5; Mrs Higgins 4 v. Miss Borland 6. Men’s Singles—G. Porter 9 v. Chisholm 7; W. Finn 1 v. Forbes 9; H. Clayton 2 v. Buchanan 9; G. Higgins jnr. 9 v. Cockburn 8. Ladies’ Doubles —Miss Wescombe and Mrs Laurie 6 v. The local team were unfortunate in being without the services of their top man, Mr Higgins, who through illness is at present unable to play. B Grade Match.
