I.O.O.F. NOTES
The fortnightly meeting of the Takiara Rebekah Lodge, No. 7, 1.0.0.E'., was held in the United Friendly Societies’ Hall, on Monday, November 23. Aating Noble Grand Sis. J. Smith, Lady District Deputy Grand Master, presided over a large attendance of members. Only one sister was reported sick and sick pay passed accordingly. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of thanks to Rata Lodge, Kennington, for the pleasant evening tendered to the sisters on November 16. After much discussion, it was decided in the meantime to postpone the holding of a moonlight, picnic at Oreti Beach. At tho conclusion of the meeting, the brothers challenged the sisters to a game of euchre. The brothers were victorious.
The quarterly meeting of Takiara Rebekah Lodge No. 7 was held on Monday, the 7th instant, Noble Grand Sis. D. Shiels presiding over a very large attendance of members. One sister was reported sick and sick pay passed accordingly. One proposition for membership was received. Miss Helen Saunders was initiated into the mysteries of the Rebekah degree. Subcommittees were elected as follows:—All elected officers to form the social committee; all members to form a visiting committee. As next meeting is to. be the last meeting for the year, it was unanimously decided to adjourn to the Brown Owl Cafe for a social hour at the close of that meeting.
Bro. M. O’Toole, N.G., presided at the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Pioneer Lodge No. 27, held on December 3. Two propositions for membership were received. Visitors from Kennington, Star of Waikiwi and Aroha Jxidges were present and the N.G. extended to these visiting brothers a warm welcome. After the lodge closed a most successful euchre narty was_ held. The Christmas tree committee wishes to thank those brothers who so kindly donated prizes and those brothers and sisters who attended to make the-tournament the success it was.
