BLUFF NOTES

CONVENT SCHOOL ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING. (From Our Correspondent). The annual distribution of prizes took place at St. Teresa’s Convent School, Bluff, on Tuesday morning last, the Rev. Father McKay presiding. In speaking of the work accomplished during the year, Father McKay expressed great pleasure at the evident progress made and paid a tribute to the teachers for their diligent attention to the' educational needs of the children. The speaker thanked all those who had so generously subscribed to the prize funds, and in complimenting the prize-winners urged tho latter to still continue their studies and so bring credit to themselves, their parents and the school. He concluded by wishing the scholars a very happy Christmas and enjoyable holidays. Prior to the distribution a very pleasing and attractive programme was contributed by the scholars. The Convent School is particularly rich in talent among the children and the items given were uniformly good, each reflecting great credit on those responsible for the young performers' tuition, the Dominican Nuns. The programme was made tp of choruses and recitations, pianoforte solos being played by Catherine Nixey and William McGorlick and a duet by Delca and Allan Gilroy.
