SCOTTS GAP NOTES

SCHOOL CONCERT.

Last Friday evening a large gathering assembled in the hall, the occasion being the school concert and dance, which proved a great success in every way. An excellent programme was submitted by the pupils, and the teacher (Miss Heenan) is to be congratulated on the manner in which the children performed the various items. Mr Ritchie officiated as chairman, and at the conclusion of the concert thanked one and all, on behalf of the committee, who had contributed in any way to the success of the gathering.

The'-following programme was rendered: Song, all pupils; song, Standard IV pupils; recitation, P. Robinson; duet, Gladys and A. Coster; recitation, J. Brown; song, boys; recitations, B. Sheddan and girls; songs, shanties, boys; recitation, M. Iremonger; duets, Maud and E. Ridder; impossible drill boys; recitation, C. Taylor; songs and games, infants; farmyard song, boys and girls; recitation, B. Johnson; song, Standard IV girls; song, Standard I and H girls; Maori scene, girls and boys; song, all pupils. The entertainment was brought to a close by the staging of "Dick Whittington,” the following taking part: A. Taylor (Dick), C. Brown (Smut), E. Ridder (Alice), G. Cook (Rosa), M. Sheddan (Mary), M. Coster (cook), M. Iremonger (kitchen maid), J. Taylor (captain), B. Price (emperor), N. Price and A. Coster (bodyguard). Supper was supplied by the ladies of the district, after which the hall was cleared for dancing, music being dispensed by Mr and Mrs Ridder, Messrs King and Gibb. Mr Saunders acted ad M.C.
