SERIOUS BUSH FIRES THOUSANDS OF ACRES BURNT A FRESH OUTBREAK (United Frees Assn.—By TBlesraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, December 15. Bush fires raging over the far western plains have assumed more alarming proportions. A fresh fire with a 15-mile front has broken out 20 miles from the main out break, and it is feared the two will merge. It is estimated that 400,000 acres are already burnt and hundreds of miles of fencing have been destroyed. Beaters have 'been fighting the blaze for five days, and the fact that- they have not returned to towns is significant of the seriousness of the position. Station homesteads are mostly built on raised rigdy country’ as a safeguard against fires, and this may prove their salvation. Stock are being rushed from one point to another as the fire veers and shifts.
