HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

AUTUMN SHOW IN FEBRUARY,

At a meeting of the committee of the Winton Horticultural Society on Friday evening last Mr D. Steven presided over an attendance of 12 members. The revised schedule for the autumn show was submitted by the schedule committee and approved. The annual autumn show was set down for February 18. It was decided to engage Mrs McArthur's Orchestra for the evening session. Judges were appointed for the various sections, and it was also resolved to run competitions this year. It was agreed to ask the Girl Guides to run a street stall and that profits be distributed equally. Mr T. N. Mitchell gave notice of motion that he would move at the next meeting that rule 3 be altered by deleting the following words: “Same ticket admits holder afternoon and evening.” This, if carried, will mean that an admission fee will bo’ charged at both sessions. Bowls. Beautiful weather conditions prevailed on Saturday afternoon when three rinks of men and two of ladies from the local Bowling Club played friendly games with rinks from the To Rangi (Invercargill) Club. A rink of ladies from Nightcaps also met a rink of To Rangi ladies. The green was in excellent order and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The games resulted: Men’s Match.
