On actual paper performances E. L. Page has accomplished the best sprinting of the year (says an English writer). He won the sprint against Oxford for the A.A.A. at the end of May, and returned 9 4-ssec. under extremely favourable conditions. He won the A.A.A. championship sprint in even time after accomplishing 9 9-10 sec. in the second round. He won the intercounty sprint and the southern championship in even time. He won the Surrey sprint in 9 4-ssec, and finally he won the 100 metres against France in 10 4-ssec, which is an even time performance over 100yds. This list of efforts (and so far as I know Page has an unbeaten record throughout the year) makes him a sound even-timer. We must remember, too, how well he ran at the Empire Games at Hamilton last year and pronounce him our foremost sprinter. Is he in the Olympic class? I think he is definitely first-rate, and I believe he has the keenness and youth to make himself a potential finalist at the Olympic Games, but in my view his zenith is more likely to come in 1936 than 1932.
