The launch Pegasus arrived at Bluff from Stewart Island on Saturday night. At the weekend the Tamatea party located and buoyed the second part of the broken Stewart Island cable. The work of repairing it will be carried out lyThe Shaw, Savill steamer Matakana is due at Auckland on December 20 from Liverpool. She has cargo for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Shaw, Savill motor ship Karamea Was scheduled to leave London on December 9 for Suva. Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Napier. She is due at Suva on January 12 and at Port Chalmers on January 19. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Tairoa, which left London for New Zealand in ballast on October 30, is due at New Plymouth on Tuesday morning to commence loading for England. Her other load-

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board the harbourmaster reported that the month of November, 108 trading vessels, aggregating 129,545 tons register, entered the port, as compared with 125 trading vessels, aggregating 141,89.1 tons register, in November, 1930. An event of note was the arrival of the Union Company’s new turbo-electric motor vessel Rangatira for the passenger service between Wellington and Lyttelton. In addition to usual pilot-boat services, the tug assisted 20 vessels in and out of the inner harbour and to and from dock. •Personal Items. Captain M. McKenzie joined the Kowhai at Melbourne last week, relieving Captain J. Stewart for holidays. Captain W. Martin has been appointed to command the Royal Mail steamer Niagara, relieving Captain T. V. Hill for holidays. Captain H. S. Whyborn, assumed command of the Kaimiro at Wellington on Monday, relieving Captain A. H. Howie for further orders. * Mr J. W. Madden has relieved Mr L. P. Bourkc as junior third officer of the Niagara, and the latter officer is taking holidays at Sydney. Captain E. L. Grayston, late chief officer of the motor liner Karamea, is in command of the Tairoa, which is due at New Plymouth to-morrow from London, via Cape Town. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
