INVERCARGILL ELECTION.

To the Editor.

Sir,—l have read the letter of “Interested” in your issue of Saturday last, but if the reasons he advances are the only ones he has to offer I must say that they do not convince me that any benefit to the restoration cause will result by further discussion of the small point raised. Whether Mr Hargest asked to meet the League or vice versa is really not so much consequence from the restoration point of view and does not show his views. The league will before long ask Mr Hargest to bring a Bill before the House or get the Government to do so, so as to afford the electors of Invercargill a vote on the restoration question. “Interested" and others can then see where Mr Hargest stands on the question—this will be the acid test and will give him an opportunity to show what he can do for Invercargill. The Reform Party will no doubt recognize that to keep the Invercargill seat it has got to see that the Invercargill electors are not wrongfully deprived of rights any longer than is necessary.—l am, etc., i M. H. MITCHEL. 13/12/31.
