SEVERAL REMANDS GRANTED. BREAKING AND ENTERING CHARGES. Several remands were granted in the City Police Court before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., on Saturday morning, the charges being alleged breaking, entering and theft. Three young men, Cyril Neville Fairweather, John Alexander Shanks, and Henry Alexander Warden, were charged with having, on or about July 31, 1931, at Oreti Beach, broken and entered the house of Abraham Wachner and committed theft therein. Senior-Sergeant Packer asked for a remand and this was granted, accused being remanded until December 18, bail being fixed in each case at £lOO in their own recognizance and one surety of £lOO. Warden and another young man, James Brown Doake, were also charged with the theft of 12 gallons of lubricating oil valued at £3 7/6 and a similar remand was granted, bail being fixed as in the former charges. A first offender for drunkenness, who did not appear, was fined the amount of his bail, 10/-. Another statutory first offender, who pleaded guilty, was fined 10/-.
