DRAWN GAME

CRICKET AT BRISBANE

STATE TEAM DISMISSED FOR 156 YOUNG BATSMAN'S SUCCESS (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 8.15 p.m.) Brisbane, November 24. On a good wicket in fine weather Hansen and Gough stubbornly held the lort for Queensland against the South Africans until luncheon. After the interval a dramatic change came over the scene, six wickets falling for the addition of only 18 runs. Hansen, one of Queensland’s youngest batsmen, made many neat strokes, giving a promising display. Gough, the captain, played a very uneven innings. South Africa in their second innings lost six for 135 and the match was drawn. After a good start the South Africans collapsed sensationally. Gilbert and Oxenham were bowling with great vim backed by good fielding and smart wicket-keeping. After the dismissal of Taylor the visitors played defensively, and an exciting match full of ups and downs fizzled out in a dull finish.

Queensland, though weak in batting, is one of the strongest bowling states. The South Africans probably reserved their strength for the big struggle commencing on Friday. There was only a moderate attendance. Scores:—
