WHERE, MR McCHESNEY?

Air McChesney, in the course of his campaign, has been supplied with so many labels that the composer of them must be kept busy in thinking out new combinations between the jumps of the political cat. Air McChesney has been announced iu turn as: United. Official United Coalition. United Coalition. Liberal Liberal Coalition The list is formidable in a short campaign, and it is in itself a criticism of the candidate’s advisers, but its importance to the public lies in the fact that Air AlcChesney is before the electors as a candidate who will pledge his support for a Government for which he has hardly one good word. Reading Air McChesney’s speeches without being aware of the Coalition label he uses, anyone would say that they were the utterances of an opponent of the Government, as uncompromising as Air Denham. There is hardly one subject on which Air AlcChesney does not condemn the Coalition, the United Party, the Reformers, or all three, and if his declarations represent his own views, he will be voting against his convictions in almost every case. He attacks the Coalition like an opponent, and then says he will vote for it every time to keep it in office. It is obvious that he is not friendly to the Coalition and that he represents those who would break it at the first opportunity. This may explain the changes in the labels. The old campaigners have been watching the rise of Coalition stocks as the campaign proceeds, and so “Coalition” has gone back into the label; but in view of his persistent attacks, his almost unfailing disagreement with and condemnation of the Coalition, and his obvious distaste for it we ask: Where does Air AlcChesney really stand?
