FRICTION IN ITALY
VATICAN AND GOVERNMENT. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Rome, June 24. The Government’s official reply to the Vatican repeats the protest against the “illicit interference of the Holy See in the international affairs of Italy, and laments that the Holy See insists by speeches and telegrams appealing to public opinion abroad upon carrying these events outside the proper place.” The reply adds that greater regard should be shown for the duties imposed on the Holy See and that the privileges must not be converted into weapons against the State.
