NAVAL PROGRAMME
QUESTION IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, June 24. Mr A. V. Alexander, First Lord of the Admiralty, replying to a question in the House of Commons, said the cruiser and destroyer building programme had been continually under consideration throughout the Franco-Italian negotiations. As it was hoped an opportunity might soon arise for continuing those negotiations, the Government did not consider that the situation at present warranted any increase in the building programme being approved by Parliament.
