DISTRICT NEWS
RIVERSDALE NOTES. On Monday night the Recreation Grounds Committee held its euchre tournament in the pavilion, a fair number of players being present. After an enjoyable evening’s play the winners proved to be Miss C. Tither and Mr E. Mortimer. The consolation prizes were awarded to Miss Doris Wright and Mr W. Wright. The excellent prizes for the evening were donated by Mr R. H. Matthews. The evening terminated with the usual dainty supper. The usual Anglican Church euchre tourney was held in the hall on Tuesday night. The winners were Mrs Boyers (ladies) and Mr W. Tither (men), Mrs F. Wicks and Mr D. Lynch receiving the second prizes. The ladies’ prizes were donated by Miss M. Fleming and Messrs H. White and L. Gay ton the men’s. The evening closed by the dispensing of an enjoyable supper. The Kaweku School Committee’s euchre tourney, held in the school on Wednesday night, resulted in Miss J. Tither. and Mr E. Eadie being first, with Miss Dillon and Mr P. Tither, junr., second. At the close of the evening the usual dainty supper was dispensed. Mrs F. Gunn is at present the guest of her daughter, Mrs J. Elder, of Waipounamu.
