ABOUT A BOOK.
To the Editor.
Sir, — I atn at a loss to understand your footnote to the “Farmer’s Wife’s” letter in your issue of the 24th instant. The book referred to is described as glib but misleading. Glib I cordially agree with, if it means modest and careful, but in what respect is the book misleading? Why not review the book? Its careful presentation of facts for which the author gives always chapter and verse deserves something better than dismissal in two lines of a footnote to a letter.—l am, etc., FACE THE FACTS. [Glib never did mean “modest and careful,” so our correspondent could not agree with us about this book, which our correspondent' recognize so promptly.—Ed. S.T.J
