LUMSDEN NOTES

On Monday evening the members of thß local branch of the Farmers’ Union and Women’s Division were addressed by Messrs A. C. Cameron, president of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce and Mr Taylor, Farmers’ Union sheep expert. Mr Cameron gave an interesting lecture on the economic situation and present day troubles of the New Zealand farmer. An interesting and useful lecture on. wool was given by Mr Taylor. The speakers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mrs G. Hamilton, president of the local branch of the union. At the conclusion of the meeting an enjoyable supper was served by the lad'es. ' The following are the results of last Saturday’s golf bogey match: Ladies: Miss McAlister 2 down, Miss Mullan 3 down. In the men’s competition a play-off will. be necessary between E. ' Ashby, H. Heath, and S. Stevens, their scores being 2 down. On Saturday the 27th a match will be played with Mataura at Mataura. The following players will represent Lumsden: Ladies— Mrs McDonald, Mrs Baillie, Mrs Murphy, Mrs Charleson, Mrs Brown, Misses Mullan and Brotherston. Men: Messrs Heath, Scott, Earl, Charleson, Owen, Thom, Bain. The following are the amended football fixtures for Saturday: Senior Grade: Lumsden v. Balfour, at Lumsden; Country Pirates v. Riversdale, at Riversdale; Waikaia a bye. Juniors: Lumsden v. Waikaia, at Waikaia; Country Pirates v. Riversdale at Athol; Balfour a bye. Country Pirates and Riversdale senior players are requested to note the alteration to avoid clashing with other fixtures at Waikaia.
