VIOLENT STORM
CONSIDERABLE MINOR DAMAGE. FERRY STEAMER BATTLING IN GALE. (Per United Press Association) Christchurch, June 24. A violent south-west storm continues, and a considerable amount of minor damage is reported in the city and suburbs. Huge seas along the coast delayed shipping. The ferry steamer Maori is battling in the teeth of a gale and is not expected to reach Lyttelton till late in the afternoon. The gale reached a maximum velocity of 65 miles an hour at six last evening. Two inches of rain fell in 34 hours.
