REHABILITATION PLAN OPPOSED. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyrrght.) (Rec. 11.40 p.m.) Canberra, June 24. As the Debit Conversion Agreement Bill in the House of progresses, more and ’more members of Mr Scullin’s party declare themselves uncompromisingly against the rehabilitation plan of which this measure is the first instalment. It is believed that when a vote is taken the Government will require the full support of the Opposition in order to carry the day. ASSISTANT MINISTER RESIGNS. (Rec. 1.5 a.m.) Canberra, June 24. The Prime Minister, Mr Scullin, has announced the resignation of an assistant Minister, Mr C. E. Culley, on the ground that he is unable to support the economy plan. His objections are similar to Mr Holloway’s. VICTOBIAN I’BEMIER PARTY THREATENS EXPULSION. (Rec. 11.40 p.m.) Melbourne, June 24. The State Labour Executive sent an ultimatum to the Premier, Mr Hogan, also to the Minister of Public Works, Mr Jones, that unless they opposed a reduction in wages and pensions under the Premiers’ Conference financial plan their endorsements as Labour candidates would be cancelled. It is reported that other Labourites in the Victorian Parliament contemplate supporting the conference plan in which case their endorsements will be withheld in the event of a crisis which is regarded as inevitable.
