A young woman in Remuera was struck on the head and left unconscious on the doorstep of her home on Sunday evening while her assailant ransacked the house. She answered a ring at the door and a stranger asked for directions. As she turned he struck her and when she recovered her senses she staggered to the telephone, called a neighbour, and collapsed again.
