RACE ACROSS TASMAN
RESTLESS NOT COMPETING. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 7. Although a cablegram from Melbourne a few days ago stated that the yacht Omiara was to leave on Saturday for New Zealand from where she would race the New Zealand yacht. Restless across the Tasman, it would appear from information obtainable from Wellington yachtsmen that Mr J. McLean, owner of the Restless, has no intention of accepting the challenge. Mr McLean left with the Restless a short time ago for Marlborough Sounds and intends to stay there until Easter. Ever since the race was suggested, Mr McLean, it is stated, has persistently denied that he has made arrangements to go across.
