McGRUER, TAYLOR AND CO.

It is not surprising that in the past few days McGruer, Taylor’s has been rushed by townspeople and country people who have had Christmas purchases to make. So varied and so charming are the gifts displayed that here shopping becomes a pleasure. The whole of the vast shop contains special Christmas attractions, but it is the haberdashery department that makes the greatest appeal, for here are displayed an amazing collection of novelties as well as the more usual articles of quality which the firm stocks. Handbags and shopping bags, cushions and cushion covers, coat hangers and shoe trees, sachets, supper sets

—these are some cf the lines that are being eagerly sought. The boxes of handkerchiefs are even more attractive than in past years. There is also a splendid line of Hardknit hose at 11/6. Novelty mascots have been very' much in vogue, and of these McGruer, Taylor’s has a wide range. Gloves, sunshades and scarves form a striking display and there is a dazzling array of garters. Near the main entrance to the shop is a large glass case which contains a wonderful variety of novelties. Dainty bead necklets, powder bowls, brush sets, pin cushions and a host of other articles got up in a way very much out of the ordinary will go a long way towards solving the question, “What shall I give for a present ?" In McGruer, Taylor’s there are indeed gifts for young and old so reasonably priced that there will be no fear of exceeding the budget allowance for Christmas presents. The whole shop is redolent of the cheerful Yuletide atmosphere and Christmas 1930 will not be complete unless it is visited.
