(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, December 16. Questioned in the House of Commons on the appointment of a High Commissioner io Australia, the Secretary for the Dominions, Mr J. H. Thomas, said he intended to renew' the question of the representation of the United Kingdom in Australia and could not make any statement at present. Replying to a question about the appointment of governors of Australian States, he said that the Imperial Conference conclusions regarding the appointment of governors did not apply to the States’ governors.
