WEDNESDAY COMPETITION SOUTHERN SURPRISE WINTON. The Wednesday competition matches were continued yesterday in favourable weather. The surprise of the afternoon was defeat of Winton by Southern. This is the first time Winton have been beaten for two years. The other victorious teams were St. Mary's and Waihopai. SOUTHERN v. WINTON. Southern players rose to the occasion yesterday and scored a meritorious win over last year’s premiers, who were not quite at full strength.
