SHIPPING AT BLUFF.
HARBOURMASTER’S REPORT.
In his report to the Bluff Harbour Board for November the harbourmaster (Captain G. N. Lindsay) stated that compared with November, 1929, there was an increase of 19,076 tons inward and an increase of 10,404 tons outward shipping. Th 6 details were as follows:—
Inward: Four overseas vessels, 22,848 tons; 7 intercolonial, 19,570 tons; 29 coastal, 6,110 tons, Total, .48,528 tons. Outward: Four overseas vessels, 22,685 tons; 6 intercolonial, 16,252 tons; 29 coastal, 6,1<6 tons. Total, 45,113 tons.
The report continued: The following overseas vessels arrived during the month: Tainui, Waihemo, Mahana and Tongariro. The Mahana’s loading on the occasion of her visit here on November 13 is worthy of note. The loading of the vessel commenced at 9 a.m. and finished at 7 p.m., and the cargo included 7000 crates of cheese, 1800 cases of meat, 200 bales of wool and 220 casks of tallow. The weather during the month was very unsettled. A westerly gale on the night of Monday, the 10th', prevented the Maheno from sailing at her scheduled time.
