She is due to sail at 4 a.m. to-day for Port Chalmers for overhaul. The freighters Canadian Voyaguer and Canadian Trooper have been sold by the Canadian National Steamships to G. Paul Knudsen, of Bergen, Norway, on behalf of Norwegian owners, who plan to operate the vegseis in European waters. Tenders also have been called for the sale of the Canadian Beaver, Canadian Squatter, and Canadian Ranger. The vessels are surplus tonnage of the Canadian National fleet, not being considered adaptable for the established routes of the company. The vogue of midget golf has prompted the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company to install a nine-hole course on its cruising steamer Atlantis. This is quite an innovation on board ship, and should prove very popular with passengers. The, Royal Mail Steam Packet Company celebrated on September 26 the 91st. anniversary of its inс. the first Royal Charter, under

Queen Victoria’s Government, having been granted on September 26, 1839. At the end of this month a regular shipping service between the Mandated Territory of New Guinea and the East will be established by the Eastern and Australian Steamship Co., Ltd., which has decided to include Rabaul in the itinerary of its three Australia-Japan liners. The Tanda, Nellore, and St. Albans will call at the port on both (he outward and homeward journeys, states the Sydney Morning Herald. The first vessel to run to the new timetable will be the Tanda, which leaves Yokohama at the end of the month for Australian ports. The vessel will load cargo and embark passengers for Rabaul at Hong Kong. The service in the other direction will be inaugurated by the Nellore, leaving Sydney on December 13. The new itinerary will not lengthen the voyage between Australian ports and Japan, arrangements having been made to omit the present calls at Cairns, Thursday Island, and Sandakan, on the northward journey, and Sandakan, Thursday Island, Cairns, and Townsville on the voyage south. The journey between Sydney and Hong Kong will thus actually, be shortened, from 23 to 21 days. TURAKINA DUE TO-DAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Turakina is expected to arrive at Bluff to-day from Oamaru where she discharged the remainder of her general cargo from west of England ports and continued loading New Zealand products for Home. The Turakina loaded at Newport, Bristol, Glasgow and Liverpool. She sailed from Liverpool on October 11, Stormy westerly weather during the last few days of the voyage delayed her arrival at Auckland. Captain I. With Southland's victorious bushcraft team on board, the Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Maheno is scheduled to leave Melbourne at 10 a.m. to-day for Bluff direct, being' due here on Monday morning. After putting ashore passengers, mails and cargo, the vessel sails in the evening for Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. SYDIC DUE TO-MORROW.
