POISONOUS SOUP
FORTY-ONE BOYS DEAD. (United Press Assn.—By Tel. graph—Copyright) (Rec. 7.40 p.m.) Delhi, December 9. A story has reached Calcutta from Coimbatore (South India), that 41 boys of the London mission boarding-house at Erode have died and many are ill from eating some poisonous subtance with an evening meal. It is believed that a snake fell into the soup and was cooked with it. The patients suffered excruiating pain. The cook of the hostel is among the dead. The teaching staff did not partake of the particular soup and are not affected.
