To-morrow she sails for Port Chalmers for overhaul and resumes her Stewart 1 Island run on Wednesday, December 17. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Turakina loaded frozen meat and dairy produce at Port Chalmers yesterday 1 morning for England and sailed last evening for. Oamaru to discharge the remainder 1 of her general cargo from west of England ports and continue loading. She is due at Bluff to-morrow in continuation and afterwards proceeds to New Plymouth. The Union Company advises that the Wairuna, with sugar from Suva,' arrived at Vancouver on November 29. She will load at Pacific coast ports this month for Papeete, Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney, and is to clear Los Angeles on December 21. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor ship Port Alma is scheduled to sail I from London on January 7 for Suva, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Bluff. ’ Under a 12 months’ charter to the Union Company the motor-tanker Athelqueen left Wellington last Thursday morning for San Pedro to load a further cargo of bulk fuel oil for Wellington. •The Shaw-, Savill Company’s motor ship Karamea arrived at Auckland on Monday from Gladstone to commence Homeward loading. She will subsequently load at New > Plymouth, Napier, Wellington and Lyttelton. The Karamea is scheduled to clear Lyttelton finally on January 3 for London, via ■ the Panama canal. • Three large liners will sail from New • Zealand ports on January 3 with wool for ■ London and already there is some specula- ■ tion as to their probable performances. The Marine Department advises that the light at Akers Point, Stewart Island, in latitude 49deg 53.9 S., longitude 168 deg 11.2 E., is temporarily unreliable.. Reports state that the light is cither extinguished or flashing very regularly. It will be attended to about January 20, 1931. WELLINGTON-LYTTELTON SERVICE. The Union Company announce that to copc with the holiday traffic in Christmas week extra daylight trips -will -be-made by the Wahine and Maori on December 23 and 24. ' On her arrival at Lyttelton on Tuesday, December 23, the Wahine will land passengers and mails and then make a daylight trip back to Wellington. She will leave Wellington the same evening for Lyttelton; arriving there the morning of Wednesday, December 24. She will sail from. Lyttelton the same morning for Wellington and will then take up- her usual running, leaving Wellington on the night of December 24. The Maori will make a daylight trip from Wellington to Lyttelton on December 23, and will leave Lyttelton on the night of December 23 for Wellington. She will make another daylight trip from Wellington to Lyttelton on December 24, and take up her usual running ' from Lyttelton the same night.
