For fie last few months an officer of the Department of Lands and Survey at Near Plymouth, has each month kept the borough, map up-to-date in the matter of dedications, exemptions, and streets proclaimed, free of any charge. The Borough Council was advised at its last meeting that in future the officer could not render this service without being reimbursed for the time spent. The chief surveyor asked if the council was prepared to pay for the services (5/- per month) or intended to have the work done by its own staff. The council decided that the survey officer should continue to keep the map up to date, as the work could not be done so cheaply with the council staff owing to the difficulty in searching plans, etc.'
