GORE CHAT (From Our Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs G, C. Hamilton have return" ed from a camping trip to Lake Hawea. Mrs J. Brown has relumed from a visit to Oamaru. Miss E. Crawshaw (Oamaru) is the guest of Mrs C. Sutton, Waikaia. Lady Lindo Ferguson and Miss Nicholson (Dunedin) who motored to gore during the week to be present at the opening of the new club rooms of the Gore Women’s Club, were the guests of the Misses Mac Gibbon, East. Gore. Mrs H. A. Price is spending a few weeks in Christchurch and Wellington. Mrs D. Little has returned from a visit to Riverton. Mr and Mrs M. Green have returned from Queenstown. Mr and Mrs Hugh Smith (McNab) have returned from a visit to Great Britain. Mr and Mrs A. J. Hawke spent a weekend at Invercargill recently. The official opening of the new club rooms in H. and J. Smith’s buildings of the Gore Women’s Club by Lady Lindo Ferguson took place on Monday afternoon of last week when there was a large attendance of members. The second birthday of the club was also celebrated at the same time. Vases of orange and golden Iceland poppies were placed on tables arranged attractively round the beautiful reception room which was also decorated with large bowls of .lovely copper beech and brick foliage. The guests were received by Mrs J. A. Blaikie (President) who in a brief speech welcomed Lady Lindo Ferguson, President of the Otago Women's Club. A most interesting address on affairs in connection with women’s club movements was given by Lady Ferguson and a very happy event took place when Lady Ferguson presented a brass bowl to the Gore Club from the Dunedin Club. An enjoyable musical programme was contributed as follows:— Pianoforte duets —Mrs 11. Brown and Miss AL Johnston, Misses Carmody and S. Inder; songs—Mesdames A. T. Pettigrew, J. Cooper and Miss M. Harrington have been spending a few days in Roxburgh. Miss Bessie Stevens has been staying with Mr and Mrs C. Affleck, Grassy Creek. Mrs Stroud, who has been spending a few days at Roxburgh, has returned home. Mrs Parmenter, Invercargill, and Mrs Hardy (Australia) were the guests of Air and Mrs L. J. Parmenter last week. Airs Meek, Riverton, was the guest of Airs Ryan for a few days. Misses Duncan, Hardy and Gordon are home for the vacation. Aliss Alina Alacdonald, Invercargill, was the guest of Mr and Mrs, G. E. Fisher for the week-end. Mr and Airs Bell, and the Misses Bell (2), were the guests of Mr and Airs G. 11. Stevens during the week-end. Mr and Airs Ham are staying with Mrs Macdonald, Queen street, RIVERTON GOSSIP (From Our Correspondent.) air and Airs E. Hunter have decided to take up residence in Invercargill. The euchre evening in aid of the Aparima Bowling Club proved a most enjoyable one, and there was a good attendance. Mrs J. Brown won the ladies’ section with a score- of 26 points, and Mrs AV. Hopwood was second with 24. Mr D. Macdougall and Mr AV. Clark (Winton) tied for first honours in the men's and in the play-off the former won. Aliss Shaw and Mr Colin Bulman won the minor prizes. WINTON NOTES (From Our Correspondent.) Mias Mavis Rose, Invercargill, who has been staying with Miss M. Collett, Forest Hill, has returned: home. Aliss Myrtle Collett, Forest Hill, has been staying with her sister Airs D. Mclntosh, Ohai. Mr and Mrs Af. Daly and their small son, Invercargill, visited Airs Daly at the weekend. Mr and Airs AL Holland spent the weekend in Invercargill. Air and Airs H. Earl and family were at Stewart Island for a few days. Miss E. Sutherland is visiting Christchurch. Aliss C. English, Invercargill, spent ths week-end with her sister, Airs O’Brien. Mrs R. Heller and her son, Robert, Ohai, visited Mrs L. Brumby last week. The monthly meeting of. the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Thursday was well attended. Three new members were welcomed and votes of thanks were passed to the Boys Brigade for the loan of the tent and to the Boy Scouts for erecting it on the showgrounds. The president, Mrs T. S. Smith, was thanked for the donations she had given to these two organizations and also for donating a Christmas cake which was competed for on Show Day. Airs AV. Thomson gave a brief report of the executive meeting. The question of substituting lectures for the Home Science box was discussed and a short time spent in passing hints to one another. A small sale of produce helped to increase the funds. The president voiced the division’s good wishes to Aliss A. Mableson whose marriage is to take place shortly, and thanked all members for the help they had given during the year. The next meeting will be held early in February. The Winton Ranger Company invited the Guides and a few friends to the Guide Room on Friday evening. The chief event was the visit of the Witch of Endor. All were thrilled with her predictions and experienced a weird and spooky journey along the mystic way. Games were indulged in and supper was dispensed. Those present included: —Lieutenant R.
