SENSATIONAL ACT
THREAT OF MURDER ACTION OF DISAPPOINTED SUITOR PLEA OF DRUNKENNESS (Per United Press Association.) Waipukurau, December 8. An incident of a sensational nature occurred at .Waipukurau when Delphia Charles Taylor, aged 25, a labourer belonging to Brooklyn, Wellington, stepped of! the mail train and asked to be driven to Wallingford, saying, “There’s murder to be done. I want to be taken there d—— quick. A bloke pinched my girl and I’m going to murder them both." The taxi-driver refused. The man next bailed up two local citizens outside the Post Office and repeated the demand, the while brandishing a revolver. Eventually he commenced his journey in a service car but was intercepted by the police, who arrested Taylor. An examination revealed that the revolver was loaded with silver paper only. Charged at the Court this morning, Taylor pleaded guilty to carrying firearms and to the presentation of a firearm at a citizen, making drunkenness his excuse. He was sentenced to 28 days on the first charge and fined £5 on the second. Accused maintained that he had no intention of shooting anyone.
