ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
MAN AND WIFE INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, December S. A car driven by C. C. Beattie, of Feilding, left the road and struck a ditch while overtaking a milk waggon at Bunnythorpe yesterday morning. The occupants were thrown violently out of their seats, Mrs Beattie sustaining a broken nose, a broken kneecap and other injuries. Beattie was slightly injured. Both were taken to hospital. TWO MEN IN HOSPITAL. Blenheim, December 8. Two men were admitted to hospital as a result of accidents on the Blenheim-Nelson road. Arthur Vorbach, a married man, lost control of a car which crashed into a ditch. Two ribs were broken and he received cuts. Sydney Harris, a single man, was motor cycling from Nelson to Blenheim. He collided in a curved cutting with a car driven by Constable Turnbull, of Blenheim, near Rai Valley. The cyclist is unconscious in the hospital suffering from concussion. HAND SHATTERED BY EXPLOSION. Wellington, December 8. While working at the Paekakariki Quarry, J. W. Tipene, aged 57, a labourer, had his left hand badly shattered by a dynamite explosion.
