THE ANGLICAN CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING AT GORE. The annual meeting of the Anglican Tennis Club was held at Gore last evening, the president, the Rev. J. T. Paddison, occupying the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet the chairman commented on the state of affairs as disclosed in the annual report and trusted that a good year Would result. - He also made reference to the exceptionally good work put in by the secretary and treasurer, Mr R. F. Pellew. The motion was carried. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: President, the Rev. J. T. Paddison (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames J. Wingham, E. A. Pigeon and E. Richardson, Messrs F. Young, A. T. Newman, W. D. Shelton, J. E. Rogers and F. Wallis Senr. (all re-elected) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. F. Pellew (re-elected); club committee, Misses Pearce and M. Newman, Messrs S. Cuttriss and J. Cochrane; hon. auditor, Mr J. G. Connolly; lady secretary, Miss I. Wilkinson. It was decided to have the courts topdressed before opening day, which was fixed for Wednesday, October 8, providing the courts are in playing order. After some discussion it was resolved not to enter a team in the competition, but to hold club matches instead. Subscriptions were fixed at 17/6 for men, reducible to 15/-, and 12/6 for ladies, reducible to 10/- if paid within a certain date. Junior members under 16 years of age are to pay 7/6, reducible to 5/-. The secretary mentioned that he had been approached by the secretary of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association in regard to the matter of a plot of ground beside the courts. The R.S.A. would pay half the wages of the men employed on this work if returned soldiers. It was decided to leave the matter to the incoming committee. . -—: * / CITIZENS’ CLUB. The annual meeting of the Citizens’' Tennis Club was held at Gore last evening. Mr J. A. S. Aitken presided. He made reference to the death of Mr M. McLeod, members standing as a mark of respect to the deceased gentleman. The annual report was adopted on the motion of the chairman, who remarked on the sound position of the club financially and on the high standard of play maintained last season. The resignations of Mr R. P. Boyne (retiring president) and Dr J. A. Gresham (vice-president) were accepted with regret. A' minute of appreciation of their services was recorded, Mr Boyne being elected a life member. The election of office-bearers resulted:— President, Mr J. A. S. Aitken; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. Stevenson, R. W. McCreath and H. Mac Gibbon; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. McLeod (re-elected); ladies’ secretary, Miss R. Gresham; club captain, Mr A. Maude; deputy-captain, Mr G. C. Millar; committee, Messrs J. Domigan, J. Paterson, D. McLeod and 0. Nelson; delegates to E.D.T.S.A., Messrs A. Maude and J. A. S. Aitken; selectors. Messrs Maude and McLeod., Six new members were elected. The subscription for men was fixed at £1 10/-, the ladies’ subscription to be. decided by the ladies’ committee which is to be appointed. ■lt was decided to enter A -and B teams in the Eastern District competitions. The matter of repairs to the pavilion was discussed, and it was decided to hold it over until ■ the ladies’ committee was appointed on opening day.
