DARING CAREER ENDS
FATAL LEAP FROM BRIDGE. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 9.5 p.m.) New York, September 22. Norman Terry was killed in a leap of 200 ft. from the centre span of the new Hudson River bridge in an attempt to break the world’s record altitude jump. He carried a 20ft. sail as a makeshift parachute, but struck an air pocket and fell on his back, dying in 15 minutes. During a daring career he had disported on aeroplane wings, hopped from one plane to another, walked, a tightrope between, skyscrapers, and performed other similar feats.
