MASKED INTRUDER
MIDNIGHT ALARM IN SHOP. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, September 20. Shortly before midnight a masked man was arrested in the doorway of a shop in Karangahape Road. A night-watchman when making his rounds discovered a window in the. front door smashed and called the police. While searching for a telephone he saw a man in the doorway. Later in the morning, Patrick Gunn, aged 35 years, was charged with attempting to break and enter an office with intent to commit a crime, and was remanded. Bail was refused, the chief detective saying that accused was an habitual criminal out on license.
